    OBITUARY:
Ian Nathanial Horton, age 18 of Brookhaven, Georgia, passed away April 7, 2017. We lost a beloved son, and a young man of great promise. Ian was born December 27, 1998 at Northside Hospital. Ian attended Chamblee Middle School, St. Pius X Catholic High School, and was preparing to graduate this May from Chamblee High School. An athlete, Ian played football, and was a member of the Saint Pius X 2013 and 2014 Track and Field State Champion Teams. Eager to seek his future, Ian looked forward to attending Georgia Southern University, and completing his studies with a transfer to University of Georgia. Ianís future had much potential. Ian easily related to people at every level and age, Ian was a sympathetic and caring friend, and loved dearly by all those who knew him. While he loved to have fun and make people laugh, Ian developed deep bonds with his friends. They respected Ian, his poise and confidence, and sought his advice. Ian was the epitome of cool. And now with Ianís passing, his friends dig deeper to hold on to the memory of someone who was more than a friendÖ a brother to many, someone who brought out the best in others. Finally and most importantly, Ian will be terribly missed by his family. His future was a source of hope and his life a source of love. Ian was the favorite among much of his family as nephew, son, grandson, and especially as brother to Dadrianna. His loss will leave a hole that can never be filled. Paternal survivors include father Jay Horton, step-mother Ashley, step-sister Dadrianna, his uncle Adam, and grandfather John. On Ianís motherís side, he is survived by mother Dione Lewis, aunt Megan Harper, uncle Dane Harper, and maternal grandmother Annette Harper. Ian was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Judy. A wake or calling hours will be at The Estate, 3109 Piedmont Road NE, Atlanta on Wednesday, April 12 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at Buckhead Church, 3336 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta on Thursday, April 13 at 11 AM. The service will be immediately followed by burial at Honey Creek Woodlands, 2625 Highway 212 SW, Conyers, Georgia at 2 PM. Honey Creek Woodlands are at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. In lieu of flowers, you would honor Ian with your donation to the Cristo Rey Network. Ian volunteered his time to this organization which empowers students from underserved, low-income communities to develop their minds and hearts to become lifelong contributors to society. My heart aches for Jay, Dione and the Horton family to lose recently in death your precious loved one Ian after just 18 way too short years, way too young, way too soon. When death robs us of someone we love very much, it causes much sadness and grief. Words are so limited that can give comfort, so I would like to share with you a beautiful scripture where Jesus makes us a wonderful promise at John 5:28, which says: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out..." . Our heavenly father promises us to do away with man's worst enemy, death at Rev. 21: 4 which reads: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." Isaiah 33:24 guarantees us: "And no resident will say "I am sick," ever again. For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. It has given me hope, strengthened my faith and helped me find the answer to Why? I know it will do the same for you. God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matt. 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises including the resurrection. John 6:40 Also, Titus 1: 2 tells us this promise of a resurrection: "is based on a hope of the everlasting life that God, who cannot lie, promised long ago." Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live......And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever. For Jehovah himself has spoken it." Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. I offer my sincere condolences to the family. Feel free to contact me at my email address: myranj@centurytel.net May these promises give you hope, comfort and peace in your time of grief.
